What you can expect
At Margaret River Surf School, the Woolworths SurfGroms program is the ultimate way for kids aged 5 to 12 to learn to surf in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Backed by Surfing Australia, this nationally recognised program is run by our fully qualified local surf coaches and tailored specifically for young surfers. Whether your child is a complete beginner or already comfortable in the waves, SurfGroms at Margaret River Surf School offers the perfect mix of surf education, beach safety, and skill development through age-appropriate lessons and games — all at one of Western Australia’s most iconic surf locations.
Now in its 14th season, SurfGroms continues to build the next generation of confident ocean-lovers, with sessions available during school holidays, after school, and on weekends. As part of the Surfing Australia Surf Schools Network, Margaret River Surf School provides everything your child needs to get started — from expert instruction and soft-top surfboards to a special grom pack full of awesome gear and giveaways. With dedicated programs for MiniGroms (ages 5–8) and SuperGroms (ages 9–12), there’s no better place than Margaret River Surf School to start your child’s surfing journey.

What you need to know
Itinerary

What to bring
You don’t really need to bring much to your surf lesson, but try to remember the following items:
- Swimwear
- Towel
- Sunscreen
- Drinking water
- Beach footwear in summer if the ground is hot
- Your booking voucher (printed or on your phone)
- A HUGE smile!!….
Inclusions
We will provide you with the following when you arrive for your lesson:
- Surfboard
- Wetsuit
- Rash Shirt
- Sunscreen (if you do not have your own)
- Professional Instruction from our experienced surf coaches
Meeting Location
Lessons are generally held at Redgate Beach, however if conditions aren't suitable we will notify you of the best location for the conditions on the day. Please meet at the Margaret River Surf School truck in the Redgate Beach Car Park 10 minutes prior to your lesson commencing. Directions; From Margaret River town head South on Bussell Hwy. At the roundabout turn right onto Boodjidup Rd and continue to the end. Turn left onto Caves Rd. In 2kms turn right onto Redgate Rd and continue all the way to the beach car park.
