What you can expect

Our coaches will be with you every step of the way, on the beach for demonstrations, in the water for tips and assistance and right there when you “claim” your first wave. All equipment supplied. Popular choices are our 3 & 5 lesson packages. This offers you a great saving on each of your lessons and gives you the time in the water that’s needed to really improve in the surf!

Our Group Surfing Lessons in Margaret River are the perfect way to learn to surf and have fun. Our goal is to get you standing up on a surfboard on your first lesson. You’ll be wanting to upgrade to the 5 Lesson Package after your first taste of success!

Group Surfing Lessons at the Margaret River Surf School are available for surfers aged 10 years and older. If you are under 10, you can join one of our Individual Surf Lessons, Private Surf Lessons (both run daily), or our specially designed Kids’ Surf Groups (SurfGroms), which run during school holidays.

What you need to know

What to bring

You don’t really need to bring much to your surf lesson, but try to remember the following items:

Swimwear
Towel
Sunscreen
Drinking water
Beach footwear in summer if the ground is hot
Your booking voucher (printed or on your phone)
A HUGE smile!!….

Inclusions

We will provide you with the following when you arrive for your lesson:

Surfboard
Wetsuit
Rash Shirt
Sunscreen (if you do not have your own)
Professional Instruction from our experienced surf coaches

Meeting Location

Lessons are generally held at Redgate Beach, however if conditions aren't suitable we will notify you of the best location for the conditions on the day. Please meet at the Margaret River Surf School truck in the Redgate Beach Car Park 10 minutes prior to your lesson commencing. Directions; From Margaret River town head South on Bussell Hwy. At the roundabout turn right onto Boodjidup Rd and continue to the end. Turn left onto Caves Rd. In 2kms turn right onto Redgate Rd and continue all the way to the beach car park.

Booked for 4 and got a call to move our session earlier for a private lesson. It was great fun, our instructor David was knowledgeable and funny. Good value for money, would highly recommend.

jarrod went above and beyond to help me and my friend, as almost complete beginner surfers from the uk who wanted to try catch some small waves on our trip to margaret river! he advised us of the best day to surf on our trip, and sent us the locations of the surfspots too! he also so kindly let us come and collect wetsuits from his home, picked out boards that would suit us best and helped us load them onto the car! we had the best experience and couldn’t have done it without his help☺️☺️

Had the most amazing experience today with Margaret River Surf School - Jarrad was unbelievably helpful!! 🙂 I’m completely new to surfing and my friend and I were planning to head out to surf independently but decided to give these guys a call for some advice. Jarrad went above and beyond to make sure that we had the best experience possible, gave us tips about when would be the best times/locations to surf during our trip and offered us wet suits/board hires that made our surfing experience a million times better. Genuinely would have had a completely different experience without Jarrad’s help and guidance - thank you so so much! Would recommend Margaret River Surf School to anyone ☺️🏄‍♀️

Loved our private surf lesson this summer! Ollie was an awesome instructor - made us feel safe and empowered, we were stoked with the waves we got as beginners. Had so much fun, thank you! Went to rent two boards and wetsuits for a couple days, gear was proper quality and even let us swap the boards out mid way through. Awesome advice for the local spots and times to go.
Couldn't recommend enough will def be using again if I'm in the area

We had some great experiences. My partner and I took several small group lessons then an individual lesson with Patrick. We are delighted with the teaching we received.
Patrick is very educational, he takes the time to explain clearly to us, to give us advice, to analyze what didn't work... and encourages us! And on top of that he’s super nice!

This experience really made me want to pursue surfing!

My only regret is not staying longer to take more classes!😋

Family of five, we had an amazing time at Redgate thanks to Market River Surf School and all the fun water toys they had to rent for the fam - surf boards and bodyboards!

We originally learned surfing with them years ago their instructors are great!

Redgate would be boring without Margaret River Surf School!!

We signed up our two sons (9y and 8y) for 9 private lessons in total. They had different coaches during that time but enjoyed them all a lot. From the first lessons onwards they were able to stand on the boards and never lost enthusiasm. The coaches were very motivating and good with kids, patiently they pulled them back out to the waves when the energy to fight the water of the little guys faded. In particular coach Patrick has become someone who the boys looked up to, always calm but also focused and helpful.

And I loved the morning chats with MJ, will miss her🩷!
